The J.I. Gardner building was erected in 1890 and is now one of the oldest standing mercantile stores in the southwest. The huge store front windows, wall mounted shelving and ski lit mezzanine are all typical of the era.

The challenge of restoring the Gardner building to its original glory began in October, 1984 and concluded five months later when Murphy's opened its doors for business. The building has since been placed on the National Historic Register.

J.I. Gardner's motto "All Goods Guaranteed To Be First Class," has been adopted by Murphy's and reflects our commitment to excellence and quality. Relax and enjoy the unique combination of past and present at Murphy's... where we are, as always...
